1v1.LOL Weapons and Aim: Which Gun to Use and When

Published · 2 min read

Building gets most of the attention in 1v1.LOL, and for good reason. But every build fight ends with someone getting shot, and the player who picks the right weapon for the moment usually wins. Here is a practical guide to the loadout and to aiming better on a Chromebook.

Know your slots

The number keys 1 to 5 switch between your weapons, and F brings out the pickaxe. Before a match, look at which gun sits in which slot so you are not scrolling through them in a fight. Many players like the same order every game — close-range gun first, then mid-range, then long-range — so their fingers learn it.

Shotgun: up close

The shotgun is the weapon for box fights and for the moment you break into someone's build. It hits very hard at short range and very little at a distance. Use it when you are within a few steps of your opponent, often right after editing through a wall or dropping onto them from above.

Assault rifle: the middle

The assault rifle is your all-rounder. It is steady at medium range, good for chipping away at an enemy who is building, and useful for breaking their walls. Fire in short bursts rather than holding the trigger; the first shots are the most accurate.

Sniper: long range

The sniper wins fights before they start. In open areas, especially in Battle Royale and early in Zone Wars, a single well-aimed shot can end a fight or force an opponent to build. Aim down sights with right click, wait for the enemy to stop moving, then fire. Up close it is almost useless, so swap away as soon as they get near.

Pickaxe: not just for looks

The pickaxe breaks builds. It is handy for knocking out a single piece of wall to open a path, and it is what you hold when you are simply moving around.

Swapping at the right time

  • Enemy far away: sniper or assault rifle.
  • Enemy building towards you: assault rifle to break their pieces.
  • Enemy right next to you: shotgun.
  • You need to get through a wall: edit or pickaxe, then shotgun.

Aim habits that help

  1. Aim at head height. Keep your crosshair where the enemy's head will be, so you move it less when they appear.
  2. Stop to shoot. Your shots are more accurate when you are not running.
  3. Use a mouse if you can. A trackpad works, but a cheap mouse makes aiming much easier.
  4. Adjust sensitivity. If you keep overshooting, lower it in the settings; if turning takes too long, raise it.

Weapons and building work together. The best players build to create the range they want, then swap to the gun that wins at that range.
