Lurkers.io is a multiplayer platform shooter where the map is not fixed scenery. You move through a side-on world, dig into it, build with it and fire at the other players sharing the arena. It sits in the .io family, so you join a match straight from the page, pick up a weapon and try to outlast everyone else.

Most shooters on 1v1.LOL are about aim and first-person duels. This one changes the question. Position matters as much as aim, because a tunnel, a wall or a ledge you make yourself can decide whether a fight goes your way. It suits a short session: load in, scrap for a few minutes, and start again if you lose.

How to play

Move with WASD or the mouse, and click to shoot or act. The same click covers the game's other actions, such as digging and building. The aim of a match is to loot what you can find, survive, and be the last player standing.

A round usually starts with you finding gear and getting your bearings. Once other players are close, the fight is a mix of shooting and reshaping the ground around you.

Tips

• Look for equipment before you look for a fight. An early skirmish without a decent weapon is hard to win.
• Treat digging as a way to move and to hide, not only to get through terrain. A route nobody expected can get you out of trouble.
• Keep moving while you shoot. Standing still in an open arena makes you an easy target.
• Do not chase every kill. In a last-one-standing format, staying alive counts for more than a high tally.
